Freelance Painting Restorer
Layers Restoration is an oil painting restoration studio based in Cheltenham, in the picturesque Cotswolds. Our current clients are collectors and art dealers who expect us to offer an efficient, cost-effective, service while working to a professional standard.
We’re looking to build our network of freelance painting conservators and there's plenty to do. You can help us to breathe new life into beautiful old pieces and spend each day surrounded by history. We always endeavour to apply painting conservation best practices, while also being mindful of timescales.
It would be a distinct advantage if you love the old masters.
Based On Experience, Tasks May Include
Surface cleans
Varnish removal
Fills and retouching
Repairing tears and holes
Flattening bumps in canvases
Consolidation
Qualifications
Degree in a conservation-based subject. Additional ad hoc training can be provided.
Salary
As a freelancer, we would expect you to provide a fixed quotation for each project you undertake at our unit after performing your own tests. Please specify your hourly rate when applying. Working hours are flexible. We're unable to provide additional funds for accommodation and you must be UK-based.
