About Us

Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, our team includes Holly Shield, a trained conservator, who is well versed in the ethics and practical application of a range of conservation techniques.

The ethics of conservation are at the heart of our decision making process and we adopt a minimal intervention policy in all cases. Essentially, this means that we value the original artist’s work and never seek to obscure or remove it, where possible.

In this respect, we’re exceedingly careful when working with your paintings, and any retouching work is subtle and harmonious. For our current availability, please contact us.

Meet the Team

tailored To every circumstance.

Each artist adopted their own nuanced approach, so every painting has a unique set of characteristics.

Over the course of a painting’s life, it can encounter various environmental influences, such as humidity, temperature, light exposure, and air pollution, which affect its condition and ultimately its appearance. However, as each artist adopted their own slightly nuanced approach, every painting has a unique set of characteristics and level of resilience. So, in all cases, it’s vital to test a piece before commencing any restorative work, to determine a sensible plan of action.

Our fine art conservation services cover a range of requirements, including: discoloured paintings, small holes or large tears in a canvas, dents and abrasions, retouching areas of paint loss, and consolidating unstable areas of paint. All retouching work is undertaken by trained conservators using reversible techniques.

In addition to painting conservation, we also offer a simple and efficient frame restoration service, which covers repairs to loose or lost plaster, missing gilt, and structural work. Retaining the original frame for your painting can add to its value and in some instances, the frames are more valuable than the pieces themselves.
